I mentioned this late one night in the IRC.  Lets see what kind of response I get from the forums crowd.

When do you turn off your computer, everyday, only when an update requires a reboot (I guess that's turning off and then on your computer)?

Are then any good reasons for leaving your system on?

Other than using energy are there any good reasons for turning you system off?

Sorry, I'm talking a home computer, not associated with work or being a server.

Why am I asking, ...

First off let me say that I have been here hanging around long enough to know the answer to this question.  Guess I just haven't been paying good enough attention.

There are Icons for Icon Packager, Icons for Object Dock and Miscellaneous Icons in the Gallery Library.

My question is can they be used universally?

Meaning can Icons for Icon Packager be used in Object Dock, can Misc Icons be used with on the desktop and with Object Dock?  Can dock Ico...

Well I believe this is another case of my hitting keys before reading. DOH.

I did a clean up and I'm thinking I managed to delete something I needed.  I know, how could that ever happen.

The following is what I get when I try to run SoundPackager.  I know, pictures tell the story way much easier.

I can't remember how to get to the actual error report or I would post that.

I've uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled using ...

All though LCD's don't have a burn-in problem they can get was is called image persistence.  I discovered this when my LCD TV, which I use as a second or cloned monitor had what looked like burn-in.  Needless to say it about brought me to tears.

I went on the web and found that it's normal and can be corrected.  Was I ever happy.  The link is just one of many that I found.  Don't remember ever seeing a post before on this so I thought it would be nice just...

The price was good at Sam's Club and I just couldn't resist it.  It's the SyncMaster model 223BW, which I think is a older model.  Couldn't find it listed on Samsungs web site.

This replaces the 17" LCD regular screen that I had and it does make a world of difference.  I also use my 37" LCD TV as a second monitor.  I run in clone mode and the 37" does show the same resolution as the 22".  I have an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with dual VGA outputs.  Th...

Well my monthy edition of Windows XP: The Official Magazine published by Future Publishing Limited arrived today. Interesting that a British Company is the sole authorized publisher of a Microsoft magazine, they also publish one for Vista by the way. Wonder why MS couldn't find a US publisher? Hmmm.

What's interesting is that it's included disk this month has a section for Customization which includes, get this, ObjectDock and WindowBlinds.    How about that sports fans! (I just loved Mel...

Okay, so I'm sure those of us that customize their desktop have come up against this question once or twice. Before we get going, yes, I'm talking just about Stardock program.

So my question centers around ObjectDock (Free or Plus), Right Click and ObjectBar. If you look at them you can say that they do the sames things in different ways, they give you an alternative to the Taskbar, Start Menue and more.

Do you use just one, two of them, or all of them?

I ran across this browser a couple months back and put post here. Well it looks like the second beta has been released.

Yeah, bottom line is that it's another way to search the web. I play it with some and it's kind of fun. I'm not all that sure how practical it is and whether it would be more of a bother to use than just IE or FF or any other browser that you all ready have.

This probably falls more into the category of a toy right now. I though it might be worth a look for some of yo...

I was going through the libraries this morning seeing what new and fantastic things had been downloaded and I stopped in and looked at Screen Savers. If you haven't noticed there are alot of nice new very animated additions.

This got me to thinking about how the Vista folks have dreams to enjoy and I started to think how us XP people, and for that fact everyone, might enjoy Screen Savers a little more and use them in a different way.

I kept thinking about the picture frame widgets/object...

How about a 360 degree desktop, resolution and font dpi consideration might come into play, maybe not. You're stuck with a single 19in WS monitor and thinking about getting a second or third one. Well, maybe you won't have to. The software looks interesting, except it's in beta and you need to sign up for it. No talk about price, but they make you think there is a library of panoramic scenes available.

Check it out and let me know what you think. It does look nice and useful, and works on bot...

I'm sure most of us have tried alot of different gadgets and widgets when customizing your desktop. Some of you may have even come across this one, Desktop Sidebar WWW Link. There's a nice library of skins there with several that have been made, with permissions, to go with some great WindowBlinds here. There are enough plugins that allow it to fit in nicely with most of the programs here.

It has also been incorporated in with the new Troll Theme that is being put together. Now you can go it ...

Well this will probably get a alot of vegetables thrown at me, maybe salad for dinner or could make a good base for a soup!

I just couldn't resist posting this. Vista been out a full year now, people don't want to give up their XP, even seen some signs out there that Microsoft doesn't want to let go of XP. Apple wants you to cross over and then there is Linux which just can't figure out what it will look like from day to day. They need to pick a platform and start moving on, don't yo...

Kind of hard to believe, but from all indications Microsoft is trying to be Santa Clause here. You do have to agree thought to a stipulation. Check it out the link and let us know if you would be willing to say yes. In case you all ready have Vista Ulitmate they are offering other software for free.

Well there hasn't been any Linux news in awhile. Came across this on Slashdot this morning and it takes you to another link which I put below. It is written by someone who is a fan of Linux, so do get mad at me. It does present some interesting points.

The computer industry appears that they have just discovered the Low-End market, imagine that, and looks like they are attacking it as undiscovered land ready to be taken for profit. I'm sure if you have web searched or looked at news feeds...

I'm interested in trying my hand at doing some landscape/scenery wallpapers. You know the ones that look like pictures but are not. Anyone have some suggestion as to the software to use?

I would do a web search but I don't have a clue what to look for.
